Is Your Car Ready For the new season?  Just like the  hot summer sun can really wreak havoc on your car,  it’s important to get your car serviced before winter.  Many service stations and dealerships offer free seasonal "checkup"  testing. Inspect windshield wipers before it rains. Prevent problems by making sure the cooling system is flushed and refilled as recommended. Antifreeze is important in cold areas. Here are some important seasonal car tips:

Have the heating system looked over by a qualified technician, at the beginning of the season.  A check up here can save a lot of grief later. A bad time to learn the heating system isn't working is on a freezing day.

Since winter  is a time when storms can happen, it's a good idea to have the car serviced and checked before the weather is bad. Here are some auto safety tips to remember:

Make sure to carry a first aid kit, flares, jumper cables, a flashlight, and a cell phone.
Important also, is to store everything together, in a convenient, easy-to-find place.
Inspect all lights and bulbs to make sure they’re working.
Have your car’s belts, clamps, and hoses checked by a technician.  This only takes a few minutes and is usually inexpensive.
Change your oil and oil filter every 3,000 miles or four times a year.
Replace air and fuel filters as recommended. 
Be sure you have windshield washer fluid.
Tires should be rotated every 5000 miles or so.
Check the spare tire to make sure it’s inflated properly.  Also, make sure you have a jack along with it!
Transmission troubles equal big money troubles best avoided!  Have your transmission serviced periodically, and prevent unwanted repair bills.

If you notice that your brakes are less efficient, or making noises, get them checked out right away.
Have your battery checked periodically ,as well.

Most people don't even read it, but the owner’s manual can be a source of invaluable information.  Following the manufacturer's recommended service schedules could save you a major repair job later.

Seasonal maintenance on your car will save you a lot of hassle in the long run.  Your car should last longer and get a higher resale price, too!  If you  make it a point to get the car serviced according to the dealer’s schedule, it will ensure the top condition of the engine.
